Dream In Color Shawl

Dream In Color Wisp yarn created this gorgeous shawl.  Lace weight from WEBS in Daylily was a joy to work with.  Three skeins gives you a very generous size as each hank is 550 yards (502 meters).  I believe I used a size D (3.25 mm) or E hook.

I often add beads to my scarves and shawls and I had these in my bead box.  They were not in the original container, but I'm pretty sure they are from Hobby Lobby, E Beads by Create A Craft.  They do need to be strung on to your yarn before you begin, and as this is a very big shawl, that means alot of stringing on of the beads.  That can cause your yarn to stress a wee bit with the constant pushing of the beads down the yarn.  What I do is complete the shawl and cut the yarn before I begin the border.  I then string on 50 or so beads and start the edging.  If I need more beads, I cut and fasten off and start again with more beads.  This way, you save the stress on the wool.

It turned out to be a very lightweight, but warm shawl as the yarn is 50% silk and 50% wool.  I love how it turned out and my daughter likes to borrow it as it is so light.

I have discovered that I am allergic to wool!  Can you believe that?  A knitter breaking out in hives all up and down her arms as she is clicking away?  ARG!  Even around my neck as I try on the scarf to check the drape.  I think this is happening as I have been working with wool yarn only, for the last few months catching up on orders.  I'll have to take a break from that and go to cotton or non-wool yarn for a time.  Well, I suppose the timing is good as it has started to heat up here in the mid west.
