Lovely Shawlette

 Hover over photo to Pin

This is a bit fall"ish" for the highly awaited Spring, but I just love the colors.  I purchased this yarny goodness in St. Louis, Missouri while on a trip to visit cousins.  I stopped in a couple local yarn shops, because, a knitter/crocheter can't NOT stop by!  You can read about that here

Skeined Alive Dyed and Gone To Heaven in Stop Saying That is a lovely blend of greens, golds.  Just like the changing trees here in the USA in the fall. It is also is a superwash merino sock yarn.  Gorgeous autumn colors. I'm sorry I don't have a link for the yarn, but the yarn band did not have one!  What are they thinking?  Let me just pause my writing to see if I can find them online.......yea! Found her Etsy shop here.  She's got great names for her skeins too....No Eggscuses...Sugar Skulls...Exploding Police Box.
I did a HORRIBLE job of blocking this one.  The edge should have a little, soft ruffle.  I found it difficult to block.  Maybe one shouldn't pin a ruffle.  Just let it do its thing.  Next time.
Here's the back.  Now, the pattern.  It's 22 Little Clouds by Martina Behn.  AND it's FREE. I'd like to try this in a worsted weight with larger needles for a larger, more shawl like, scarf.  Maybe add some beads to the ruffle!  You lovely followers know how I like to add beads and charms to my knitwear!

Here's what Martina says:

"A beautiful shawlette with long ends that can be wrapped comfortably around your neck and secured with a little knot – that’s my new pattern „22 Little Clouds“. Simple, soft stockinette lets the fabric flow, and the tiny ruffle makes it look like a cloud. The two angles on the long ends only have 22.5 degrees (instead of 45 degrees that most knitted shawls feature), that’s what causes the long, skinny, symmetrical shape. Knit with 4.5 mm needles and DK yarn it can be finished in 2 or 3 cozy evenings on the sofa. Also suitable for beginners.
If you prefer a larger or smaller shawlette, this pattern can be adapted to the amount of yarn you have: Just knit until 25% is left and start the ruffle."

Have a lovely week,
Sheila

Instant Downloads on Etsy

Hover over picture to pin
For all you sellers on Etsy that sell patterns, Etsy now has instant download!  Yea!  Long time coming, for sure.  Go to your listing and click "edit".  You will see, in the top box under "categories" the button for digital format.  Upload your pdf and BAM, you're done!  Be sure to change any wording in your listing or receipt to let the buyer know that Etsy will be emailing them the pdf to their email address!

For me, the best part of that is I can go on vacation and actually BE on vacation.  In the past, I have always taken my laptop with me to email pattern purchases.  I hated to close my shop and be out a few hundred dollars.

The little owlet (baby owl) pattern is for sale in my Etsy shop.  The listing info for that is below.

Any adventurous beginner crocheter will be able to easily follow this pattern!

When completed, it measures 3 1/2" tall by 3" wide!

This stuffed hoot owlet (baby owl) is soft, squishy, sweet and looking for a child to love! His, or her, big eyes have sweet little buttons!

Try it in brown with white eyes and black buttons!

Make a parliament (group of owls)! Try a Mamma owl with fatter yarn and a larger hook and her babies!

For baby or toddler in the bed, crib, stroller, car or just for play!

Great one of a kind shower gift, birthday present or for any special child in your life!

Make them in school colors for graduation party favors!

Any worsted weight (4) cotton yarn will work for easy care and washing! Holding up to lots of hugs and kisses!

Happy Thursday,
Sheila

Freesia Shawl

Don't you just love all the shawl patterns that are so popular at the moment?  I do!  I found this Freesia shawl pattern and fell in love right away.  Delicate lacy holes, knit diagonally in readily available DK weight.

My stash of Queensland Collection Rustic Tweed in color #916 was a delight to work with.  A lovely subtle tonal yarn in shades of gold with little flecks of black.  I used this same yarn in my Charmed Hitchhiker.

This pattern is Freesia by Annie Lee on Ravelry.  US size 6 (4.0 mm) circular needles and 760 yards (700 meters) will have you clicking along with this one page pattern.  You start in one corner and knit away until you run out of yarn or until you reach the best size for you.  Would look luscious in your fingerling tonal hanks just waiting for that just right project.
You can easily change the needle size and yarn weight to make your shawl unique to you!  I've got a gorgeous red "cake" waiting to be transformed into this shawl.  I'm thinking a very large shawl...one that would come down over the bum!

Have a great week,

Debbie Bliss Running Stitch Blanket

Who doesn't love Debbie Bliss? This book has loads of great patterns for the beginner and beyond. I think the colors are perfect for a boy or girl and modern moms love shades of grey right now.
This is not a quick knit as you are knitting two blankets separately then stitching them together. If you know how to do double knitting, this is the perfect project. YouTube will have some videos for you or you can find a class for that  on Craftsy, just click on the Online Classes at the top of the page.

For this squishy goodness, I used worsted weight (4) yarn in two shades of grey and a cream and dark grey for the running stitch.  3 skeins Caron Simply Soft Charcoal Heather 3 skeins silver.  You can use scrap yarn for the running stitch.

Great project for car trips or tv watching.  A crocheted edge would look really sweet.  You can find Debbie Bliss books on Amazon.com or you fav book store!

Best,
Sheila
